Dr. Yusuke Imoto Gave a Lecture at Symposium of Advanced Mathematical Sciences

On March 27, 2023, Dr. Yusuke Imoto, ASHBi Associate Professor (Hiraoka Group), gave a public lecture, entitled “Data science that captures the shapes of data” at the symposium organized by the Department of Advanced Mathematical Sciences, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University. Dr. Imoto explained understandably about “topological data analysis (TDA),” which analyzes the “shapes” of data, including “persistent homology,” which captures “complex shapes” such as the molecular structure of glass, and “Mapper,” which captures “invisible shapes” for high dimensional data such as gene expression data.
The 52 participants including high school students and teachers were eager to learn about the cutting-edge data science.
