Event Report: KAKENHI Writing Seminar Co‑organized by ASHBi & iCeMS

With the aim to support early stage non-Japanese researchers, ASHBi and iCeMS co-organized a KAKENHI Writing Seminar in English with support by KURA on 11 September 2020. More than 40 researchers joined the online seminar, where they learned practical tips for writing their KAKENHI proposals.

In the first part, Makoto Shida (URA of ASHBi), gave an overview of the KAKENHI evaluation system to provide a reviewer’s perspective of the proposal, followed by tips for effective storytelling. In the second part, Daniel Packwood (PI of iCeMS) gave practical writing tips from his experience of winning multiple KAKENHI grants. The slides of the seminar are available at the end of this page.

ASHBi aims to provide more seminars and workshops for early stage researchers in the future.
