On 6 April 2020, Professor Mitinori Saitou, director of the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Biology(ASHBi), has been selected to the recipient of the Imperial Prize and the Japan Academy Prize by the Japan Academy, for his research on the theme of “Mechanism and In Vitro Reconstitution of Germ Cell Development.” The award ceremony will take place in Tokyo in June.

The Imperial and Japan Academy Prizes are awarded to persons who have achieved notable research landmarks or who have authored particularly outstanding academic papers or books.
