We will have an ASHBi Seminar with Dr. Luis Barreiro from University of Chicago, as a lecturer.
Dr. Barreiro received his undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Biotechnology at Lusófona University, Lisbon, Portugal. In 2008, he obtained his PhD in Human Population Genetics from the University of Paris VII. Luis Barreiro’s research focuses on a better understanding how natural selection has contributed to the evolution of our species and the extent to which past selection events impact present-day susceptibility to disease. Specifically, Barreiro’s lab studies the evolution of immune responses both at the inter-species level as well as among different individuals and human populations. He is currently an Associate Professor, Genetics Section, at the University of Chicago.
If you have any interests in the topic, you are welcome to attend this seminar.
